JAVANESE AND THE WATER PROJECT January 2017

How far could you carry 20 litres? Notes to leader: Use this question as a way to get people engaged in the update. Ask people to talk to the person next to them, and then feedback to you.

Javanese used to have to walk 3 km going up and down a steep hill to collect 20 litres of water everyday! It’s very tough, especially when you are 62.

‘Life was very hard. Especially having to go a long distance to fetch water at my old age.’ Javanese

The Kigezi Diocese began a project to bring water to the village. Javanese helped organise the work and was given training on water safety and good hygiene.

Today the village has a tap stand supplying clean water. Javanese is still involved, making sure the system is properly maintained.

‘Thank you so much for helping us to see this water project realised - something we thought would not be possible. But we believed in God, who makes all things possible. We pray for a blessing upon you.’ Javanese

PRAYER For peace and harmony in Javanese’s community For good health for her family and friends For God’s saving grace upon us all as we love and work in His vineyard.

We would love your church to pray for Javanese regularly. The next slide is a set postcards with her story on them: Print them out Cut them up Give to people to take home

KIGEZI, UGANDA KIGEZI, UGANDA KIGEZI, UGANDA KIGEZI, UGANDA Life used to be very hard for Javanese. Everyday she had to walk down the steep hill she lives on to collect water. The whole journey is 3 km and that is hard work especially when you are 62. Then two years ago, Diocese of Kigezi’s water and sanitation program began a project to bring water to the village. Javanese was part of the committee who organised the work. She was given lots of training around water safety and hygiene.
