Special Education Evaluations Evaluation: Students attend two days in the community preschool program to determine their need for special services Evaluation Report: Summary of assessments, observations, parent reports, social/developmental history, First Steps reports and/or medical records. Case Conference: Discuss the evaluation report and student’s strengths & needs. Discuss eligibility, goals and programming.

Special Education Data 2016-2017 First Steps Referrals 38 38% Parent Referrals 61 62% Other Referrals 0% Total: 99 Qualified: 88%

BECC Programs & Services Direct Special Services Community Preschool Developmental Preschool Students work individually with a therapist Speech therapist, Occupational therapist, and/or Physical therapist) 16-18 students 2 adults High/Scope curriculum & Preschool Foundations Integrated therapy services 2, 3, or 5 half-days per week AM & PM sessions 12-14 students 2 – 3 adults Integrated therapy services are more intensive to address student need. Individualized goals Peer Friend program 5 half-days a week

BECC Child Care 7:oo am – 6:00 pm Students participating in child care also receive a half day of preschool Students are offered breakfast, AM snack, Lunch, and PM snack Consistency between preschool and childcare (curriculum & routine) Special education expertise available to support students in childcare who may struggle in other settings
