ANDY WARHOL 1928- 1987 Andy Warhol was a legend in his lifetime. He received his bachelor of fine arts and moved to New York City to become a commercial artist. He began to work for Harpers Bazaar and Vogue magazines. He began working on a process called silkscreening to create artworks with a bold graphic style. As he entered into the New York culture scene he began painting celebrity portraits and images of popular culture.

Warhol’s Portraits Warhol portrayed famous people like Marilyn Monroe because they were typical icons of the "glamorous” and “famous. Every female portrait he completed was in the same format which included emphasis on lipstick, eye shadow and frozen camera smile. He wanted to portray celebrities as comtemporary sex symbols, packaged for the public as a consumer items. Mick Jagger portrait Elvis portrait
