Russell Wells

Binscarth Water System 1965 WTP upgraded in 1980 & 1992 Groundwater Supply Treatment - greensand filtration for iron and manganese removal Issues Older facility High hardness (500 mg/L) High THMs (226 µg/L)

Rossburn Water System 1962 WTP upgrades in 2001 Groundwater Supply Treatment – Greensand filter, Ion Exchange softener & Ultraviolet Disinfection Issues Old Plant Ammonia Sodium Total Dissolved Solids

Rossburn Water Quality Sampled by Office of Drinking Water – June 2014 Parameter Units Raw Water Treated Water GCDWQ Hardness mg/L as CaCO3 436 119 ≤200 Iron mg/L 1.18 0.018 ≤0.3 Manganese 1.00 0.0073 ≤0.05 Total Dissolved Solids 854 992 ≤500 Sodium 103 264 Ammonia* 1.47 0.81 - *Ammonia interferes with disinfection - Resulted in installation of UV disinfection
