What is Advent The Christian season of Christmas actually begins on Christmas Eve and lasts for twelve days, ending on January 6. In Advent, we’re reminded of how much we ourselves also need a Savior, and we look forward to our Savior’s second coming even as we prepare to celebrate his first coming at Christmas.
What do the Colours mean? Can anyone explain what colours are used in the Church and why?
Colours Purple (or dark blue) as it signifies the seriousness, repentance and royalty Pink points to the minor theme of Advent, which is joy. The first, second, and fourth Sundays of Advent are “purple/blue” Sundays. Only the third is a “pink” Sunday. The pink, joyful color reminds us that, yearning for God to come to us, we know that he did in fact come in the person of Jesus.
Central, white, Christ-candle for Christmas Eve/Day
We light the first candle as a sign of waiting. We light the second candle to show we are getting ready for Jesus new life in us. We light the third pink candle as a sign of our joy in getting ready for Jesus’ birthday. Now we are ready to light the fourth candle to show we are nearly there. The white candle in the centre will be lit on Christmas Day.

In Winter There’s – Hanukah Purim
The Passover or Pesach It commemorates the story of the Exodus as described in the Hebrew Bible especially in the Book of Exodus, in which the Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt. Passover commences on the 15th of the Hebrew month of Nisan and lasts for either seven days (in Israel) or eight days (in the diaspora).
A brief overview of Passover. The book of Exodus tells us how Moses was sent by God to Pharaoh to be a deliverer of Israel. The Pharaoh, of course, did not heed Moses' appeal to set the people of Israel free from their slavery, and the stage was then set for the showdown between the God of Israel and the gods of Egypt
What is the meaning of Peseach The Jewish people celebrate Passover as a commemoration of their liberation by God from slavery in Egypt and their freedom as a nation under the leadership of Moses.
