Planning First on Paper – Grid and Templates Activity #2 Planning First on Paper – Grid and Templates Before you start arranging and rearranging a classroom, take time to plan out on paper. Consider visibility, accessibility, and distractibility – and how you envision teaching and learning unfolding in the space. Measure the room and then block out its size below; let each block equal one foot. First put in windows, doors, electrical outlets, and any stationary items (e.g., built-in bookcases, mounted pencil sharpener, etc.); indicate any class computers. Then add furniture. Note: An average classroom size is about 24’ x 32’. 5 10 15 20 25 30 5 10 15 20 25 30
