Rabbits & Inter Golf Parklands 2017

(North East Rabbits Golf Association) Rabbits & Inter Golf NERGA (North East Rabbits Golf Association) (http://nerga.co.uk/) NERGA was formed in 2010 with the aim of promoting inter club golf in the North East NERGA supports 2 different competitions: Rabbits Golf is a golf competition restricted to golfers who have a competition playing handicap between 16 and 28. Inter Golf is a golf competition restricted to golfers who have a competition playing handicap between 8 and 15. In 2017 there will be 55 teams from 35 clubs participating, 34 clubs playing in the Rabbits competition, in 4 different Zones and 21 clubs playing in the Inter competition, in 3 different Zones

Rabbits & Inter Golf Each Club hosts a home event, attended by other clubs in the Zone 8 male players (over age 18) represent a club, but guests also welcome at each event Events held on Saturday or Sunday, playing in a 3 ball group with members from other clubs. Entry fee is £10 per event. Host club may also put on other competitions on the day, longest drive, 2’s club etc Scoring system is individual Stableford points, off full current handicap, with the top 7 player scores counting towards the team score A player must be within the relevant Handicap range to play in their 1st event. A Player can continue to play in subsequent events even if their handicap is outside the Handicap range – Players are never excluded if they have played at least once. Inter Rule – Players with a handicap above 15 can play but their handicap is restricted to 15.

Rabbits & Inter Golf Player scores fed back to home club for an “Away Score” handicap adjustments by the home club Handicap Sec League points awarded to each club at each event (8 points for winning the event, 7 points for second place, ..,, 1 point for last place etc). But 1 League point deducted if a full team of 8 players does not attend an event. End of Season Finals Day - 2 separate events both at Woodham Golf & Country Club in Sept (Inter Saturday 23rd & Rabbits on Saturday 30th) Top team in each Zone qualify for Finals day, also the “best” runner up team Top player in each club quality for Finals day (calculated by 3 best scores) plus any other player in top 10 Finals days will determine: 2016 Team Champion 2016 Individual Player Champion Top Parklands player at each Event rewarded with sleeve of balls…

Parklands joined the Rabbits League in 2013 thus 2017 will be our 5th season. The Inter League started in 2015 with Parklands being founder members For 2017 the aims are for both Team to qualify for the Finals Day at Wooham Which can be achieved by ensure that players who perform well are rewarded and retain their place in the team But also ensuring that all members of Parklands Golf Club have an opportunity to experience Inter or Rabbits Golf if they wish

Team Selection All Parklands members have the opportunity to represent their club at a NERGA event, but this is a competitive golf competition, and the selection policy must be supportive of winning. The Team selection process aims to achieve the following, sometimes conflicting, objectives Achieve the best possible team result at each event Provide an opportunity for all Parklands members to play Inter & Rabbits Golf Performance at previous Rabbits event will be a factor in team selection, with players who scored above average at a previous event probably retaining their place for the next event, while players scoring below average may not be selected thus providing an opportunity for different players to play for the team.

Time line 21 days before event – Entry Form posted on Rabbits notice board 10 days before event – Entry closed 8 days before event – Team selected and details posted on notice board, including start time 3 days before event – Players confirm attendance, travel arrangements etc 1 hour before tee time – Register at host club Note - Some Events only 1 week apart, thus there may be some deviation from the above

Parklands Rabbits v’s Parklands Inter Challenge In 2016 we introduced a challenge between the 2 Parklands teams to determine who is the best, with (as expected  ) the Inter team being crowned top team, but by a very small margin. This tradition will continue in 2017, and hopefully for many more years, and the 2017 re match is scheduled for Sunday 20/8/17.
