Co-op Sports Highlights GD has cooperative athletic teams with Tyngsboro (Boys and Girls Swimming/Diving and Alpine Ski). The Tyngsboro Swim and Dive program (TGD) is wildly popular with our students and enjoys tremendous competitive success. This winter the TGD Girls captured their 4th straight Mid-Wach Title and were MIAA South/Central Sectional Finalists. The TGD Boys finished 2nd in the Mid-Wach Championship. Two weeks ago our Alpine Ski Coop (GDT) standout, Emily Brush, defended her MIAA State Slalom Championship at Wachusett Mountain.

UNIFIED Sports GD introduced a UNIFIED Track & Field Team in 2013 in conjunction with Special Olympics… “Special Olympics Unified Sports® brings together ATHLETES with intellectual disabilities and athletes without intellectual disabilities (UNIFIED PARTNERS) to train and compete on the same team. Participants improve their physical fitness, sharpen their skills and learn acceptance and inclusion while participating in Unified Sports. A primary goal of Unified Sports is to equalize the ability level of Special Olympics athletes with their partners and to promote inclusion through team practice and competition.”

…and added Unified Basketball in 2014

Concussions Concussions in sport are a reality and not mutually exclusive to one sport.

Concussion (cont.) Football’s safety, as with any physical activity, centers on correct form and proper technique. Our coaches attend clinics and participate in concussion courses to learn how to make our students experience a safe one. Each coach in the District, along with participating students and families is required to successfully complete the online Concussion in Sports course offered by the National Federation of High School Sports.

Concussion Awareness at GD Honored by ESPN’s Taylor Twellman Our students took the #TTPLEDGE… …and the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, too!

GD ATHLETICS is PROUD of its… Great Teacher/Coaches Sportsmanship/School Pride Peer Leadership/Role Models Community Service – Giving Back! Student Wellness- Empowering healthy life choices and physical well being.
