Bessie Coleman By Iya

Early Years Bessie Coleman was born January 26th 1892 in Atlanta, Texas. Bessie was born into a poor family. Usually Bessie and her sister would work over school days and holidays picking cotton to make clothes to sell.

Parents Her mother was a seamstress and was all African-American. Her father picked cotton for white men and he was one quarter African-American and three quarters Choctaw and Cherokee Indian.

Adult Life In 1915 at the age of 23, Bessie moved to Chicago with her brother Walter. While she was living with her brother she decided that she wanted to be the first of her race to fly an airplane. But she had figured out that she had to go to France to realize her dream.

Death Bessie Coleman died on April 30 1926 .She died when her plane went out of control causing her to fall out of her airplane.
