Touched by the Savior Matthew 9:18-34

Jesus’ touch brings the hope of life – v. 18-19, 23-26 Jesus’ touch brings the hope of cleansing – v. 20-22 Jesus’ touch brings the hope of light – v. 27-31 Jesus’ touch brings the hope of being delivered from Satan’s power and influence – v. 32-34

Matthew 9:18-34 9:18 – “While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.” 9:19 – “And Jesus rose and followed him, with his disciples.” 9:20 – “And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment,” 9:21 – “for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.”

Matthew 9:18-34 9:22 – “Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.” 9:23 – “And when Jesus came to the ruler's house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion,” 9:24 – “he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him.” 9:25 – “But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 9:26 – “And the report of this went through all that district.

Matthew 9:18-34 9:27 – “And as Jesus passed on from there, two blind men followed him, crying aloud, “Have mercy on us, Son of David.” 9:28 – “When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to him, “Yes, Lord.” 9:29 – “Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it done to you.” 9:30 – “And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them, “See that no one knows about it.” 9:31 – “But they went away and spread his fame through all that district.

Matthew 9:18-34 9:32 – “As they were going away, behold, a demon- oppressed man who was mute was brought to him.” 9:33 – “And when the demon had been cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying, “Never was anything like this seen in Israel.” 9:34 – “But the Pharisees said, “He casts out demons by the prince of demons.”

Being Touched by Jesus Christ Brings the Hope of Cleansing to People Verses 22-24 Jesus Christ has the power to physically cleanse Leviticus 15:19-33 – flow of blood made a person unclean Luke 8:44 – touch the fringe (hem) of his garment Numbers 15:38-38 – Jewish men required to wear blue tassels on their robes

Being Touched by Jesus Christ Brings the Hope of Cleansing to People Jesus Christ has the power to spiritually cleanse Isaiah 1:18 – “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool” Have you personally touched Jesus Christ for spiritual cleansing?

Being Touched by Jesus Christ Brings the Hope of Light to People Verses 27-31 Jesus Christ has the power to physically open eyes Son of David Matthew 1:1, 12:23, 15:22, 20:30 Messianic title – identifies Jesus as the Messiah Isaiah 35:5 – then the eyes of the blind shall be opened (referring to the Messiah)

Being Touched by Jesus Christ Brings the Hope of Light to People Jesus Christ has the power to spiritually open eyes 1st Peter 2:9 – who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light 2nd Corinthians 4:6 – “For God, who said, Let light shine out of darkens ahs shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” Have you personally come out of the darkness into the light?

Being Touched by Jesus Christ Brings the Hope of Deliverance from the Power of Satan to People Verses 32-34 Jesus Christ has the power to physically deliver from the power of Satan Demons – fallen angels whose purpose is to serve and do Satan’s will Revelation 12:4 – 1/3 of the angels Hebrews 12:22 – innumerable amount of angels Satan is powerful – but has limited power

Being Touched by Jesus Christ Brings the Hope of Deliverance from the Power of Satan to People Satan’s goal is to keep people away from Jesus Christ John 12:31 – Satan is the ruler of this world Jesus Christ has the power to spiritually deliver from the power of Satan Have you personally been set free from the power of Satan – spiritually?

Being touched by Jesus Christ offers the hope of: Overcoming spiritual death Overcoming spiritual uncleanliness Overcoming spiritual darkness Overcoming Satan’s spiritual hold

FAITH How to experience the touch of Jesus: Jairus’ daughter – do not fear, only believe Woman with the flow of blood – your faith has made you well The two blind men – according to your faith be it done to you Demon possessed mute man – brought to Jesus Has Jesus Christ touched your life through faith?
