Kindergarten Report Card Helping parents know what students are expected to learn and how they can support that learning

What We Had Board policy required a checklist for kindergarten. The previous checklist matched the SC Academic Standards.

What We Wanted To give parents a description of what students need to know and be able to do To address the Common Core State Standards Initiative To reflect increased rigor To provide consistency for student expectations To give teachers a guide for conferencing with parents

The Process A committee of kindergarten teachers began meeting in September 2010 to explore the CCSS. A subcommittee volunteered to work over the summer to develop the report card. The document was distributed to all kindergarten teachers and elementary principals for input. Principals and kindergarten teachers requested feedback from parents. The committee continues to meet monthly to refine the report card.

The Document: Subjects Language Arts (Reading and Writing) Math Social Skills

The Document: Rating Scale 4-Exceeds Standards 3-Meets Standards 2-Approaching Standards 1-Needs Support
