Bringing JOY to those who GIVE and to those who RECEIVE News Letter Issue 1, 2016 NPO NO: 153 - 074 The Gift of Joy is a registered Non-Profit organisation with an open mandated with the main focus of bringing to Joy to whoever interacts with us through our many campaigns and events. The aim is to bring a sense of joy and fulfilment to not only those who receive from our charity but to also bring Joy and fulfilment to the donors and sponsors. We seek to capitalise the beauty of the human nature and caring for others and expand that into creating an environment where money, although important in the day to day facilitation of events and campaigns, is less valued than the time and efforts of the Donors in encouraging them to participate and offer their skills to bring joy to others and to generally uplift the country via the dispersement of not only funds but also of skills and emotional endeavour. As an open mandated charity we have the ability to participate and spearhead projects across any segment and even to spearhead specific projects as set out by major donors following a particular theme as requested by the majority sponsor (Sponsor dedicated events). This allows for far reaching penetration of the needs of the underprivileged and also the desires of our donors and sponsors, however specific they may be.

Back To School The Gift of Joy started the year of with 2 back to school drives. We went to Reshomile Primary School in Diepsloot where we surprised all the little new grade 1 kids on their first day of school by giving them lunchboxes, filled with sweets along with stationery. The Gift of Joy joined DJ Sabby with his School Bags for Kids drive. Together we collected over 500 school bags for kids in need that was given to kids at the Lufhereng Primary School in Soweto.

book Nothing is Impossible. The Connector’s High Tea in Aid of The Gift of Joy Charlie Monson “ The Connector” hosted an exclusive High Tea to raise funds for the Gift of Joy. The event was one that inspired all guest as they listened to inspiring stories from Mrs Sarah-Late Scott ( Mrs SA 2015, Kim Ballentine and Anthea Ambursley Author of her book Nothing is Impossible.

A Birthday Celebration Founding Member Nicky celebrated her Birthday on the 29th April by giving her birthday to 8 kids in Alexandria. It was quite a surprise for these kids as they don’t have never had a birthday party. Cake, treats and presents was awaiting the kids as they arrived home from school. The JOY on their faces as they enjoyed “THEIR” party was the best Birthday present for Nicky.

Outreach Program The Gift of Joy joined Dalene Naude from The Hope Project on the 30th April, The Outreach Project is a project to help those who are residents at “Genade Plaas”. We visited 2 farms, one in Brakpan and one in Withok. Residents enjoyed a warm cup of soup, children was entertained with arts and crafts before they each received a goddie bag filled with sweetes. As an early Mother’s Day gift Nicky gave each of the ladies a hamper filled with toiletries. Donations of clothes and toys was given to residents at the Withok farm. Tears of appreciation could not be held back from the residents who truly appreciated our presence.
