INTRODUCTION The landing gear system on a conventional aircraft tricycle configuration consisting of a nose landing gear and left and right main landing gear. Each landing gear includes a shock strut with two wheel and tire assemblies. Each main landing gear wheel is equipped with a brake assembly with anti-skid protection and it is located in the lower left and right wing area adjacent to midfuselage. The nose landing gear is steerable and it is located in the lower forward fuselage.

OVERHAUL PROCESS ENTRY DISASSEMBLY CLEANING INSPECTION

OVERHAUL PROCESS REPAIR/REBUILT ASSEMBLY TESTING PACKING

STEP 1 Use digital pictures taken from all aspects to provide a permanent record of what is actually received.  STEP 2 Disassemble into individual components and the part numbers and serial numbers are recorded.  The actual part numbers and serial numbers are compared to the Trace paperwork furnished by the customer. STEP 3  Parts are cleaned and bushings removed from those parts that have bushings.  All bushings are removed and discarded. OVERHAUL PROCESS STEP 4  Paint is removed utilizing a blast cabinet and the media used is plastic chips which only remove the paint. The cadmium will be removed later by chemical strip. STEP 5 Parts are inspected and a detailed ICR (incoming condition report) is made and compared to the design allowances. The engineering department after review of the ICR selects those operations necessary to repair the part and prints a routing for that specific part and serial number.

STEP 5 Parts are non-destructive tested for cracks by magnetic particle inspection or by penetrant inspection.  STEP 6 Parts are sent based on their specific routing to the machine shop or plating as required. Chrome-plated surfaces are inspected and replated with the correct specification process if needed. Then, the parts are shotpeened and stripped and thus being inspected by magnetic particle again. STEP 7 New bushings are installed.  The new bushings are made to the exact size for the part after all of it’s rework. If the landing gear components are found Part is prime painted and top coat painted and thus being sent for assembly. OVERHAUL PROCESS STEP 8 All the landing gear hydraulic system components are tested after final assembly. The landing gear is put in a special hydraulic press to compress the shock for testing proposes. After the testing procedure, the shock absorber is deflated to a reduced pressure for shipping. STEP 9 The landing gear are being packed using bubble wrap to avoid from vibration and as surface protection.
