19th Century Sculpture Rodin was a realist sculptor of the mid-to-late 19th century He was denied entrance into the Ecole des Beaux Arts as a student and later could not get his works into the Paris Salons A trip to Italy and the works of Michelangelo inspired him to make The Age of Bronze which got into the Paris Salon of 1877. It caused a scandal because people could not believe it had not been cast from a live model.
