Residential Energy Programs From the Beginning

1999 – 2012 Energuide for Houses and EcoEnergy Registered Service Organization for NRCan Utilized a pool of 30 local Certified Energy Advisors Delivered assessment to over 26,000 residents in Eastern Ontario Educated and informed home owners on energy use and upgrade opportunities in their homes Provided access to up to $15,000 in rebates for energy efficient upgrades

2010 – Present OPA/IESO – Home Assistance Program Program offered by Local Electric Distribution Companies Free program for low-income residents of Ontario Provides energy efficient products, from lightbulbs to appliances Can also include insulation upgrades to basements, walls and attics Reduces energy consumption, increases home comfort and reduces utility bills Open to both homeowners and renters

2008 – Present Utility Funded Free Home Weatherization Program Program offered by Enbridge Gas and Union Gas Free to low-income residents of Ontario Provides insulation upgrades to basements, walls and attics Reduces energy consumption, increases home comfort and reduces utility bills Open to both homeowners and renters

NEW Programs – How they work Energy Assessment before and after required Resident implements energy efficient upgrades Utilities issue rebates Rebates vary by utility Union – up to $5000 Enbridge – up to $1600 Minimum of 2 measures must be completed May heat with Gas, Wood, Oil or Propane IESO Whole Home Pilot Now allows electrically heated homes to participate in current programs Also offers rebates for appliances, including, fridges, freezers, dehumidifiers and washing machines Over 3500 Social Housing Units
