Courses Students Should Take Planning for College/Career-What Are Colleges Looking For? What Can I Do When School Starts? Resources Important dates Questions

At Sherwood… We focus on academics so students leave high school prepared to do whatever they want to do (open as many doors as possible) We provide opportunities for self exploration beyond the curriculum through athletics, community activities and extracurricular programs

What Courses Should Students Take? Students should plan their schedules keeping the end in mind (College, Career, Military). Students should take courses that challenge them the most. Students’ schedules should contain honors and possibly advanced placement (AP) courses. Students must complete 22 credits (28 possible in a full-time four- year program).

What are Colleges looking for? Strong G.P.A. (cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better) Honors and Advanced Placement courses Mathematics courses beyond Algebra 2 with a grade of B or better 3 - 4 credits of Science with a grade of B or better Foreign languages, preferably in high school with a grade of B or better.

What are Colleges looking for? Strong SAT and/or ACT scores (500 or higher on SAT Math & EBRW Or 21+ on ACT Or both) College Ready Scores on Accuplacer Joe

What are Colleges looking for? Internships related to field of interest Athletics and/or Service and/or Extra-curricular activities (NCAA eligibility if student wants to play college sports) Joe
