Medication Administration: Getting it Right Classroom Presentation

Course Purpose The purpose of this course is to teach unlicensed staff to administer medications to people with the goal of improving their quality of life. The course uses a standard method to teach medication administration so that it can be done in the most safe and accurate manner. It is your job to administer medication correctly and to follow the steps you’ve been taught for accurate administration.

Documentation: Refused Dose Note Alfred Nicolai July 7, 2004 9:30 am When offered his fluoxetine at 8 am, Alfred refused to take it. He said that he didn’t feel like taking it this morning. Attempted to determine why he didn’t feel like taking it and continued to offer the dose to him until 9:20 am. Reviewed healthcare practitioner’s instructions and if one dose is missed or refused, then wait until the next dose is due and try again. Notified supervisor. John Thomas

The current dose of 40 mg did not seem to have made a lot of difference and he was not showing any response to the dose.
