Song: My God is so big My God is so big, so strong and so mighty There’s nothing that he cannot do. (x2) The rivers are his, The mountains are his, The stars are his handiwork too. There’s nothing that he cannot do.

Song: Ascribe Greatness Ascribe greatness to our God, the Rock, His work is perfect, and all His ways are just. (x2) A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Good and upright is He. (x2)

Song: Our God is a Great Big God Our God is a great big God, And he holds us in his hands. (x2) He’s higher than a skyscraper, And he’s deeper than a submarine, He’s wider than the universe, And beyond my wildest dreams.

..Our God is a Great Big God And he’s known me and he’s loved me Since before the world began, How wonderful to be a part of God’s amazing plan. Our God is a great big God, And he holds us in his hands.

Bible reading Genesis 1 1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

Bible reading 24 And God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds - livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds." And it was so. 25 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Bible reading 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Bible reading 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

The King and His Kingdom God is king Promise and Deliverance The King and His Kingdom Lesson 1/8

God is King

Aim of lesson: To learn Who rules the universe We are made like God Adam ruined God’s kingdom on earth

Who is your Creator?

How many God’s are there? There is only one God.

What did God create on the first day? The heaven and the earth and light.

What did God create on the second day? The sky (atmosphere).

What did God create on the third day? The seas, dry land, the grass, the trees and the flowers.

What did God make on the fourth day? The sun, the moon and the stars.

What did God make on the fifth day? The fish and the birds.

What did God make on the sixth day? The land animals and man.

What did God do on the seventh day? God rested and gave us our Sabbath: a kingdom of peace.

How do we know about God and creation? God tells us about Himself and His works in his Word, the Bible

So…who were our first parents? Adam and Eve Adam was taken from the dust of the earth

How was Adam different from the animals? God made him special – like himself with a mind packed with wisdom with a heart full of love with a will to do what was right with a never-dying soul

As king, how was Adam to rule? Tend the garden of Eden and guard it Name the animals Produce children to rule with him Not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil

How did God test Adam’s friendship? God gave Adam a test-command: ‘of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat…’ (Gen.2:17)

What did Adam have to do to pass the test? Adam had to choose to obey God, and listen to God to tell him what is good / evil GOOD what God commands EVIL what God forbids Do what God says

Who tempted Eve to eat the forbidden fruit? Satan, a wicked, fallen angel. Did Eve listen to Satan?

How did Satan deceive Eve? Hmm, is God really truthful? Hmm, is God really good? Hmm, we could be like gods! Hmm, this fruit looks very tasty.. He led Eve to doubt God’s Word, and follow her own desire

Did Adam eat the forbidden fruit? Yes: Adam sided with Eve and Satan against God. Adam was acting for us all when he committed that first sin This is why we are born sinners we ourselves sin we are under sentence we are guilty

Just trust in the Promised One What did God do? Covenant of Works Covenant of Grace Adam He had to punish…but He also promised Second Adam Just trust in the Promised One He will crush the Serpent’s head and take your punishment He will be perfect and will make all things right again He is your only hope of being perfect before God

The big promise Speaking to the Serpent, God said, I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. Genesis 3:15

Why did God not send the Saviour for a long time? So we would most appreciate him. Guilt Grace Gratitude

Conclusion: We learned God rules the universe We are made special like God Adam ruined God’s kingdom for all God promised a Saviour
