AIM: What are the central beliefs of the Hindu religion? Do Now: Agree or disagree – ‘what goes around comes around’. Explain. HW: Write a journal entry as a member of any of the Hindu castes. Your entry must include an understanding of the different teachings of Hinduism.

Hindu Beliefs Goal - Union with Brahman Brahman: world soul/spiritual force. Mono- or Poly- theistic? Represented by many gods. Moksha: unification with the Brahman. Atman: an individual soul. Reincarnation: rebirth of the soul in another life form. Things that effect reincarnation Karma: actions taken that affect your next life. Dharma: religious morals & duties. Ahimsa: non-violence. Way of Life Caste System: pre-determined social structure. Sacred Texts: Vedas & Upanishads
