Rolls-Royce and AFA have signed an MOU for Rolls-Royce sponsorship of the AFA National Teacher of the Year Program

Major Aerospace Education Activities Major Topics (Con’t) Aerospace Connections in Education (ACE) Program, had a great first year 28 AFA Chapters have sponsored 335 classrooms, surpassing 2016 goal of 250, with 10,480 ACE Program T-shirts Thanks, AFA, for our special ACE shirts!

Air-Minded Strategies Education Initiative Objective: To understand the many different ways the U.S. military and the US Air Force in particular, provide value to the nation, its political leaders, and military commanders The first public symposium, Senior Surprise/Secret Squirrel, was held in Shreveport, Louisiana, in January by the ARK-LA-TEX Chapter and AFGSC—very successfully. A blueprint for other chapters. Hi-lighted in September AF Magazine article Bob Elder will moderate a “Winning AF Strategies” panel of three nationally recognized Historians at the Air, Space, and Cyber Conference, Tuesday, 1410-1455

Arnold Air Society and S Silver Wings Currently our strongest source of young college age members We have approximately 3,000 student AFA members, AAS Commander and SW President will brief Sunday afternoon The AEC has published the fall ARCON schedule in August Newsline, also passed to Field Council AAS/SW alumni in each of our Emerging Leaders Program, 3 of 7 this year Reaching out to AAS/SW alumni in AFA, slide for 70th National Conclave in Orlando, Florida being displayed Future AFA leader, AFA should be AAS/SW Alumni Association as well

AFA’s Aerospace Education Activities AFA’s Aerospace Education Programs have a breadth and depth that significantly supports/forwards our AFA Mission. Funding challenges are reducing outreach/support. These programs are the foundation of our chapters outreach programs. Scholarships, both endowed and AFA funded: to AF spouses; Dependents; AFROTC, Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings Cadets Education/Support Grants: to AF Enlisted (Pitsenbarger); Educator Grants; CAP/AFJROTC Instructor Grants; AFA Chapter Matching Grants. STEM Education: Outreach Programs: CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Education Program; StellarXplorers National High School Space Competition; CAP/AFA K-12 Aerospace Education Programs Recognition: Outstanding Educators, AFA Contributors, Industry Education Efforts, Young people: Teacher of the Year Program; Distinguished Sustained Aerospace Education Award; Chairman’s Award for Aerospace Education Achievement; CAP, AFJROTC, AFROTC Outstanding Cadet Awards—every unit

Concern– AEC Initiative AFA Financial Challenges have/will further reduce funding for all AFA Programs, to include Aerospace Education—reduces AFA Education Support and STEM outreach. Rolls-Royce sponsorship of the AFA National Teacher of the Year Program demonstrates attractiveness for like type AFA Education funding. AFA/AEC plans to develop a sponsorship package to attract/develop similar type of external funding support We need your help in identifying and providing introductions to potential sponsors
