African American Explorers and Leaders as Heroes Unit 6: Lesson 4, Part 3 Objective: Students will be able to explain how African American educators were heroes to their community by engaging in conversation, looking at historic photos, videos, and by responding to the topic. What is a hero? A hero is a special helper. This person is liked and admired for courageous and great things. A hero can help one person or many people! A male is called a hero. A female is called a heroine.
