Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low Lost hearing in one ear at age 25 due to treatment for an ear infection. Became fully deaf at the age of 29 when a grain of rice punctured the ear drum of her good ear. Learned ASL Founded the Girl Scouts

Ludwig van Beethoven

Beethoven's ninth symphony Ludwig van Beethoven Music composer who began losing his hearing at the age of 30. Became fully deaf 10 years later. Composed several musical pieces while deaf completely from memory. Beethoven's ninth symphony Ode to Joy

National Theatre of the Deaf

National Theatre of the Deaf Started in 1966.Uses both hearing and deaf actors. Based in Connecticut it is a professional theatre group that travels around the world putting on plays in ASL (voice interpreted).
