Big-Ben The famous clock Big Ben stands near the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben is really a big bell. It weighs 13,720 kilograms. The clock has four faces and five big bells. The English people built the tower and the clock in 1858.

River Thames London stands on the river Thames. The Thames is a major river flowing through the southern England. The river flows through several other towns and cities, including Oxford, Reading and Windsor. You can see the Tower of London from the river Thames.

Saint Paul’s Cathedral St Paul's Cathedral is the City’s greatest monument. The present building dates from the 17th century. It was built by Christopher Wren. The cathedral is one of London's most visited sites.

Trafalgar Square Trafalgar Square is a square in London that commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar (1805), a British naval victory of the Napoleonic Wars. There is a very famous statue “Nelson’s Column” in Trafalgar Square.

Tower Bridge Tower Bridge is a bridge over the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, which gives it its name. It has become an well-known symbol of London. It was opened in 1894.

Buckingham Palace Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the British queen and her family. The palace is a setting for state occasions and royal entertaining. The ceremony of the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace is a great tourist attraction.

Westminster Abbey It is a symbol of English tradition at its best. It is the traditional place of coronation and burial site for English monarchs. Here you can see memorials to Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens and other famous people.

Piccadilly Circus Piccadilly Circus is a famous public place of London's West End in the City of Westminster, built in 1819 to connect Regent Street with the major shopping street of Piccadilly. The Circus is close to major shopping and entertainment areas in a central location at the heart of the West End. Piccadilly Circus is a busy meeting point and a tourist attraction.

Madame Tussaud's museum Madame Tussaud’s is a famous wax museum in London. It was set up by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud.

Oxford Street Oxford Street is a major street in London. With over 300 shops, it is Europe's busiest shopping street.

Greenwich Greenwich is a district in south-east London, England, on the south bank of the River Thames. It is best known for its maritime history and as giving its name to the Greenwich Meridian (0° longitude) and Greenwich Mean Time.

The Houses of Parliament The Houses of Parliament stands on the River Thames at Westminster. It is officially known as the Palace of Westminster. The complex includes the House of Commons, the House of Lords, Westminster Hall, and the 320 foot high Clock Tower. It contains the world famous sight Big Ben.
