Plan, plan, plan Use myBlueprint to make a plan for all of your high school years Multiple plans can be created to reflect pathways to different post-secondary options As you create different plans, use the Pathway Eligibility feature to link to post-secondary programs that you would be eligible to apply for Note that some courses are offered every other year The myBlueprint graduation indicator is an easy way for you to track your progress Course selection will be open from January 10th – January 20th 2017

High School Planner - STEP 1: ADD COURSES Selections for the next grade courses appear in the blue column. Only the courses in the blue column will be submitted. Other years may be planned. Add courses by clicking on the ‘+’ sign.

Pre-requisites Many courses have pre- requisites These can be looked up by clicking on a course in myBlueprint Prerequisites are listed for EVERY course

High School Planner – MODIFYING CHOICES To change or delete selections, click on the three grey dots. A pop up box will appear with choices.

High School Planner - STEP 2: REVIEW COURSES If there are no issues and you are happy with what you have chosen, click on the blue “Submit Course Selections” box.

High School Planner – STEP 3: PRINT SIGN OFF SHEET Print off two copies of the sign off sheet. Give a signed copy to you period A teacher and keep one for yourself. Your signed course selections are due BY Friday, January 20th, 2017

Full time student status At Cawthra Park, ALL students are required to carry a FULL TIME course load This means 8 courses in grades 9, 10 & 11 If you are in a repertoire course (a music or dance course offered outside of the school day) you MAY choose to carry 9 courses This means at least 6 courses in grade 12

Course types GRADE 9 & 10 GRADE 11 & 12 O = open L = locally developed P = applied D = academic GRADE 11 & 12 O = open E = workplace C = college M = mixed (college / university) U = university

Important information for grade 9s Be sure that you choose BOTH civics and careers in myBlueprint Use your grade 9 experience thus far to make smart choices about levels > 70% stay in academic < 70% move to applied

Summer school If you are 100% sure that you are taking a course in summer school, DO NOT select it in myBlueprint Keep in mind that many summer school courses fill up so be sure that you register early

Co-op! An incredible opportunity Co-op may be selected by students going into grade 11 or 12 There are 2 credit / half-day (COP 2XC) and 4 credit / full-day (COP 4XC) options available Students who have selected co-op will be called to a meeting in the spring to discuss placements OYAP is available for some students to earn hours towards their apprenticeship

Important information for grade 10s SCIENCE INFO There are now specialized sciences courses to take Biology, chemistry and physics are offered at the university level Environmental science is offered at the mixed level College biology is offered every year, college chemistry is offered every other year If you are planning to take biology in grade 12, SCH 3U0 is strongly recommended MATH INFO Now 4 levels of math to choose from (E, C, M and U) Typically students earning level 4s are successful in 3U math 3U math can be used as a prerequisite for any 4U math course 3M math is a prerequisite for MDM 4U0 Look ahead to your post-secondary options & plan accordingly

Important information for grade 11s Apprenticeship, college and university programs all have prerequisites www.electronicinfo.ca for information about university programs www.ontariocolleges.ca for information about college programs www.apprenticesearch.com for information about apprenticeships Use the post-secondary search engine that is part of myBlueprint Hopefully you are taking the grade 11 courses that are prerequisites for the grade 12 courses needed to apply to post-secondary programs of interest It’s not too early to be thinking about scholarship applications

Important considerations Students are added to courses on a first-come, first-served basis so be sure to submit as soon as you can However, even if you submit during the window, you are not guaranteed your choices  Be OPTIMISTIC & REALISTIC

For senior RAP music students: students going into grade 11 or 12 Please choose your two regular RAP courses (AMU and either AMI, AMK or AMV) Also choose your required co-requisite: AMR 3M0/4M0 for vocal and piano majors AMO 3M0/4M0 for instrumental majors Students within the AMR 3M0/4M0 course will be part of the senior concert choir (Sr. Ritz) and will be in one of two sub-choirs (Chamber Choir and Les Belles Classiques)
