Internationally known British writer, author of detective novels Agatha Mary Clarisse Miller was born September 15, 1890 in Torqay.

Christie successfully acted as a playwright- and 16 her plays were screened and staged. In 1976 Christie was awarded the Order of the British Empire 2 degree. She died in Wallingford, January 12, 1976. Her first book she wrote in a dispute with her sister, who was a writer. Her books were sold over 2 billion copies and been translated into over 100 languages. Agatha suffered disgraphy - she could not write lyrics. All her works were dictated. During the First World War Agatha worked in a hospital, then at pharmacy. That is why she knew poisons very well. And wrote about them in her books.
