3 George Bernard Shaw was born in Dublin, Ireland, on 26th of July, in 1856. He wrote 65 plays and many pamphlets. His interests lay in politics, socialism, communism, humanist issues. Shaw had a great respect for woman. Bernard Shaw was a sensitive man who looked upon poverty and social injustice in disbelief. At the age of ninety-four years Bernard Shaw died on 2nd of November, in 1950. George Bernard Shaw (26 July 1856 – 2 November 1950)

4 Creation Shaw wrote five unsuccessful novels at the beginning of his career between 1879 and 1883. The first printed novel Shaw was "Cashel Byron's Profession", written in 1882. The novel "Not social socialist" was published in 1887. Shaw began working on the first play of "House widower" in 1885.

5 Works such as "Caesar and Cleopatra" (1898), "Major Barbara" (1905) shows the mature views of the author, who was already 50 years old. New works, such as "first play Fanny" (1911) and "Pygmalion" (1912), were well known to the public in London. Late works such as "the Millionairess" (1935), and Geneva (1935), has not received wide recognition from the audience.

7 Agatha Christie ( 15 September 1890 – 12 January 1976) Agatha Christie was born in Devon, England in 1890 as the daughter of a British army captain. Agatha Christie was one of England's most famous writers. Her crime and detective stories became famous for their clever plots. Agatha Christie was often called the queen of crime.

8 Agatha Christie was married twice. During the First World War she worked in a hospital as a nurse. Later on she got a job in a pharmacy. She died in 1976. Some of her novels, like "Death on the Nile" were set in the Middle East. "Murder on the Orient Express" was written in Istanbul. At the beginning of the 1970s Agatha Christie became ill, but she went on writing. Many of Christie's books and short stories have been turned into successful movies.

9 Contribution to the culture of the country For outstanding contribution to British literature by the Queen of England awarded the title of Agatha Christie court lady.

11 J. K. Rowling (31 July 1965) Joanne Rowling is a famous British novelist. The writer was born on July 31st, 1965, in Yate, which is north-east of Bristol. When Joanne was four, her family moved to Winterbourne. She started writing fictional stories rather early. In 1991, she went to Portugal to teach English. In Portugal she met her future husband. In 1993, she had a daughter Jessica.

12 History of Harry Potter In 1995, Rowling finished her manuscript for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. In June 1997, Bloomsbury published Philosopher's Stone with an initial print run of 1,000 copies. Its sequel, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, was published in July 1998. In December 1999, the third novel, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

13 The fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, was released on 8 July 2000. A wait of three years occurred between the release of Goblet of Fire and the fifth Harry Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was released on 16 July 2005. The title of the seventh Harry Potter book was announced on 21 December 2006 as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

14 Contribution to the culture of the country JK Rowling has been awarded by the city of Edinburgh. The award, which is awarded by the administration of the Scottish capital for contribution to the development of the city and special achievements in the field of art, business and science, will fall into the hands of the author of the books about Harry Potter.

16 Foreign writers and their works able to find response in the hearts of the Russian people. I really like these writers and their works. I myself enjoy reading their books translated into Russian. Further I hope I’ll be able to read all these literature masterpieces in original!
