Background Legal Background MOST IMPORTANT EU Directives EU Guidelines EU Standards CZ Legislation CZ Standards MOST IMPORTANT Good neighborhood relationships Good customer and regulator relationships

Environmental TIME SCHEDULE EIA (Environmental impact assessment) Permissions and statements obtaining Review of building and technology design Building Testing Building trial operation Preparation and obtaining of operational permissions Installation Preparation of Environmental management documents

Environmental management Environmental managerial documents as a part of EHS Management system Employee for full-time job Legal requirements

Main areas of the environmental protection Environmental protection areas Description Waste management Waste management work-flow, rules and responsibilities setting Air pollution control Emissions measuring, Water pollution control Monitoring of emissions to the water Emergency preparedness Occurrence assessment of an emergency situation and its prevention Explosive and toxic gases handling Identification of explosive and toxic gases (amount, storage equipment, placement, training) Dangerous chemicals handling Identification of dangerous chemicals (amount, storage equipment, placement, training) Dangerous goods transportation Possibility of Dangerous goods transportation (chemicals, wastes, radioactive material and biohazard material) Identification Resources consumption Natural Gas, Water, electric energy consumption monitoring

Diesel power station Backup source of energy CAT 35168 For safe shutdown of the experimental technologies 5000l (approx. 1320 gallons)- 12 hours of operation

Waste water treatment Connection to municipal drainage No need to have our waste water treatment plant Oil separator for parking area

Cooling of rooms and experimental technologies Water is treated with bactericides but concentration is low. In case of discharging it will not cause threat to municipal waste water treatment plant.

Water treatement for cooling, heating and cleaning Boiling room Remove water hardness Remove Cooling Plant room DEMI water preparing For DEMI water cooling loop For USC For laboratories

DEMI water DEMI water cooling loop For cooling of experimental technologies Loop volume 17 m3 Prevention of possible water irradiation USC For cleaning of experimental equipment Middle unit Laboratories Small units

USC - Ultrasonic cleaning What will be cleaned ? Optical and mechanical parts of different shapes. Material of cleaned parts - AISI 303, AISI 304, AISI 304L, AISI 316L, AISI 316 - EN AW 6082 Max. size of cleaned parts Flat components approx. 1×1,6x0,3m (3x5x1ft) Cubic or spheric components approx. 1,2×0,8×1m (4x2,5x3ft) or Ø 0,6–0,8m (2-2,5ft) Max. weight of cleaned parts  - approx. 500kg (1100lb)

USC - Ultrasonic cleaning Room layout …

Ozone depletion gases – FLUORINATED HYDROCARBONS AquaEdge Chiller units Carrier for HVAC cooling containing refrigerant type R-134a EU regulated certificated installation certificated service periodic tightness tests

Waste management CURRENTLY we do not produce dangerous waste, but we are prepared on it amount of produced waste is „small“ FUTURE amount and type of waste will increase and will be depending on the research activities and the associated maintenance.

RA Waste Management The amount and type of radioactive waste that ELI will be probably generated will be vary depending on the research activities and the associated cleaning and maintenance of experimental areas. Almost all of this radioactive waste will fall under the category of low-level radioactive waste. Activated materials Filters Dumps and local shielding Experimental chamber and equipment within Contamination (debris from targets) Handling activated materials = Transport, Temporary storage, Final disposal
