Howard Hughes Medical Institute 1/23/2018 Howard Hughes Medical Institute Inclusive Excellence: 2017 Undergraduate Science Education Grants Synopsis The goal of this initiative is to help institutions build their capacity to effectively engage all students in science throughout their undergraduate years, especially those who come to college via non traditional pathways.   Through this initiative, HHMI will support colleges and universities that commit to measurably increase their infrastructure, resources, and expertise to involve undergraduate students in science, resulting in expanded access to excellence for all students. Our long-term aim is for successful strategies pioneered by the grantee institutions to serve as models to be adapted and adopted by other institutions. National Institutes of Health Science Education Partnership Award 1/23/2018 National Institutes of Health Science Education Partnership Award Synopsis The goal of the Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) program is to invest in educational activities that complement or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation’s biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs. SEPA encourages interactive partnerships between biomedical and clinical researchers and P-12 pre-service and in-service teachers (Teachers), schools and other interested organizations. SEPA supports diversity in the workforce by providing opportunities for students from underserved communities to consider careers in basic or clinical research, provides teachers with professional development in science content and teaching skills and improves community health literacy through its science centers and museum exhibits.
