MYVU Portal & VU Collaborate Dictum Society wishes you all the best with your studies.

Why you should know how to navigate MYVU Portal and VU Collaborate? Become familiar with MYVU Portal and VU Collaborate, because this is where you will be able to access important unit information, contact details of your lectures and tutors, supplementary reading materials, assignment information, your student email, discussion threads for units, unit guides, quizzes, unit materials (especially for tutorials), results, assignment feed back and be able to connect with your Lectures, tutors and follow classmates.

MYVU PORTAL

MYVU Portal You need to become familiar with the online space of the university and MYVU Portal is the gateway to a new set of resources which will make your life easier if you know where find things. On you MYVU Portal you will find many tabs (such as my details, my learning etc.) which categories your online space. Make yourself familiar with what’s underneath each tab.

Your Details

Beneath your ‘My Details’ tab you are able to: Change your password, which you will be required to do at the start of each semester. Access university notices. Make sure you check them regularly, sometimes they have interesting competitions you can take part in. Access your Personal profile and be able to edit your personal details, your course details and your results, your fees information and apply for Scholarships. Proceed with your online Enrolment. Make sure to complete your enrolment for each semester before the start of the semester and before Census date to ensure your enrolment goes through and you get the units you want.

Beneath your ‘My Details’ tab you are able to: Contact details: Here you can make sure your contact details up to date at the start of each semester to ensure mail from the university is sent to you, at the right address. You can also check and make sure your course details are accurate here and update them. You can find information about your exam timetable and location here, when exams are coming up as well as information about your online enrolment (whether its complete or not, and this is where you’d do you online enrolment for each semester), you can discontinue your enrolment here, receive unit results, pay your fees and also apply for scholarships here.

Beneath your ‘My Details’ tab you are able to: Apply for scholarships Search courses when you’re completing your online enrolment View your applications Access course and unit details (whether you’re enrolled or not, prerequisites etc.) pay your fees Access your timetable Access information for Exams (timetable, location, seat number etc.) Your results (for exams) Graduation information

Your Learning

Beneath your ‘My Learning’ tab you are able to: Access VU Collaborate Digital Recordings of Lectures Your Resources for Units Your timetable for a particular semester Upcoming events Your Networks underneath VU Your library account online (renew your loans, check your hold requests etc.) Your Student email account (very important! Check regularly) Mobile applications (e.g. VU phone app)

Your Learning Support

Beneath your ‘My Learning Support’ tab you are able to: You can access available information and resources and help from the Academic and Support Development Department regarding what help you can get from them, where their services are found and what those services are. You can also access information here about Student Supporting Student Learning (SSSL) for Student Mentors to help with units you may be studying, Student Rovers in the learning commons and Writing Mentors in writing spaces.

Your Account

Beneath your ‘My Account’ tab you are able to: Change or rest your password: You sometimes may need to change this each semester to ensure your information is kept safe and secure. Do not share you login in details with anyone.

VU COLLABORATE

To access your VU Collaborate underneath the My Learning tab click VU Collaborate, once you do so, you will be re-directed to another page.

Once you’ve been redirected to another page after clicking VU Collaborate, the next page should look like this. Once you’ve arrived at this page, click ‘HERE’ and you should be redirected to your VU Collaborate homepage.

Once you’ve completed your online enrolment and set up your online account, your VU Collaborate home page, should look like this. (You should be able to see your messages tab, your updates tab, and your student name). Click on a Unit to access your Unit information.

Your Unit Information on VU Collab

Unit Resources on VU Collab Within your VU Collaborate by clicking on one of your Units you can access your unit content, Unit Guide line, view your progress, view your grades, view upcoming tasks/due work, submit your assignments, access assignment information, access your assignment results and feedback, access various tools, access help, access unit discussion threads where you can ask your lecture questions about an assignment. Explore around and get to know your Unit here and familiarize yourself before assignments and tutorial readings are assigned.

Unit Content

Content Tab By clicking on a Unit, then content tab, you’ll be able to access the unit overview, course schedule, lecture materials, extra unit materials, information on plagiarism, helpful website links for that specific unit, and all assessment details and resources for that Unit.

Communications

Communication Tab You are able to have contact with your lectures, tutors and fellow classmates through your communication Tab. Underneath this tab you are able to email, instant message your lecture or tutor, take part in Unit discussion threads (which mainly will be able the assignment for that Unit), access a chat room between yourself and fellow classmates, keep details of your group details if you have a group assignment or task, access unit news, access lecture recordings underneath ReVU Digital Recordings and engage in virtual classrooms.

Assessments, Survey’s & Quizzes

Assessment, Surveys & Quizzes To submit assignments for Units you must submit through an electronic version though your Assessment Dropbox which is found underneath your Assessments Tab your Unit page. Sometimes you may have to submit a hard copy as well, make you your clear on your submission requirements when submitting assignments. Some Units have weekly Quizzes you need to complete. If you do need to complete a quiz, just click on quizzes underneath the assessment tab and follow the instructions. You can also complete surveys and self-assessments here if you Unit requires it.

Results

Results You can access an overall over view of your results and unit progress underneath the tab results in your Unit content. This is a good way to be able to personally assess your progress and set new goals for yourself and monitor your improvements.

Extras: Tools

Just explore. It’s the best way to start. Extras : Tools Finally you access various extra helpful tools within your Unit content area such as your ePortolio, links to help websites within your Unit or Calendar which tracks any upcoming assignments/ deadlines for example. Just explore. It’s the best way to start.
