Primary Longman Elect 5A Chapter 1 Text Type School notices

Let’s review the main features of school notices.

Remember that school notices come in two parts. A letter from school to parents. A reply slip for parents to send back to school.

They tell parents about a special arrangement or event.

No pictures Not colourful

A choir concert is being held and a school wants its upper primary pupils to go. That means pupils in P4, P5 and P6.

There is a school notice to ask the parents.

Information about the event and important points to note are written under headings.

Parents can pay for the tickets by cheque.

The concert starts 8:00 p.m. exactly; not at 7:55 p.m or 8:05 p.m.

Pupils should not be late.

Pupils should dress neatly.

This pupil’s parent says he can go to the concert so she crosses out ‘will not’ and fills in the rest of the form. Then she sends the form back to school.

Let’s look at another example.
