What opinion do Lennox and the other thanes hold of Macbeth? At first Lennox is loyal to Macbeth and believes that he hasn’t done wrong, but then after Lennox talks to the Lord he changes his mind and sides with everyone else. They call him a tyrant and then they suspect Macbeth to be behind all the murders.

Macduff does not appear at all in Act III. Where is he and why? Macduff traveled to North Cumberland to get help from King Edward so he can remove macbeth from his position and stop the tyranny.

Explain what life in Scotland under Macbeth has been like, and how some nobleman plan to put an end to Macbeth’s rule. Cite text evidence. Macbeth is not doing a good job as Thane and the Lord says “Give to our tables meat, sleep to our nights free from our feast and banquets bloody knives” but now there is a plan for a war to break out against Macbeth.

Predict what may happen in the next act of the play Predict what may happen in the next act of the play. Cite specific examples of foreshadowing to demonstrate what lead to your prediction. We think that Macduff will be successful at getting help along with Malcolm and Fleance to get vengeance and war will break out between Scotland and Northumberland “ And this report hath so exasperated the king that he prepares for some attempt war”.

Foreshadowing “Well, anyway, this news from England has so enraged the tyrant that he’s preparing for war.” Lennox and a Lord are walking together talking about Macbeth, as they go on they began to talk on the matter of Macduff escaping. Macduff has a plan to get help from the king in order to stop Macbeth. Macbeth has heard about this new however and is now beginning to prepare for war. So in conclusion the quote I choosed is foreshadowing a war with Macbeth.

Conflict Lord-”Macbeth pitied the gracious Duncan and snap! Duncan was dead! And the brave Banquo was out too late. You can, if you like, say that Fleance killed him. Because Fleance fled, didn’t he?” Lennox-”The moral is it is foolish to be out so late. And who can help thinking how monstrous it was for Malcolm and Donalbain to kill their gracious father? How it grieved Macbeth!” The Lord and Lennox are arguing over whether or not they should trust Macbeth. While the Lord see his actions as suspicious, Lennox on the other hand sees Macbeth to be heroic.

Imagery/ Mood “Lennox rode, alone by an indirect route, to a late night meeting with a friend about matters that deeply worried him and some other Scottish noblemen. He wore a disguise.” This use of imagery is building a sense of seriousness in the scene by describing the eerie atmosphere, where the discussion is going to take place about Macbeth.

Hyperbole “I wish some holy angel would fly to the court of England and bring us a message from him before he returns so that our country, suffering under an accursed hand, can live in hope.” Lennox is hoping that there was a way that Macduff could tell him what the plan is, if any, to help overthrow Macbeth, and save Scotland from his poor leadership.

Metaphor “We could restore food to our tables and sleep to our nights, instead of this feast of bloody knives.” When they say “this feast of bloody knives” it is being referred to all of the such murders that have been caused by Macbeth. This is done by using a term such as feast and putting it with bloody knifes which would be figurative for murder.
