September Thursday 1st September -Stay and play session without parents (if children ready) 1.30-2.30pm Home Visits Friday 2nd, Monday 5th & Tuesday 6th September are the dates for home visit opportunities. Times will be allocated for parent and child visits.

Diary dates – Taster sessions Friday 1st July – Stay and play WITH parents 9.30am – 11am (opportunity to book home visit with class teacher) Friday 8th July - Stay and play WITHOUT parents, if your child is ready (Parents invited for afternoon tea & sample of school dinners) 1.30-2.45pm

Home visits Friday 2nd, Monday 5th & Tuesday 6th September 2016

Things you could include All about me box! Please find and decorate a box! Pack with things that make you special! Ready to share at home visit & bring in to share with friends at school during the part time sessions. Things you could include A favourite story, photos of family and pets, objects important to you eg swimming hat, dancing shoes, football, shells collected at beach, souvenir from holiday or days out, bookmark, postcard, artwork from pre-school you are proud of, certificates from clubs, empty packets favourite foods/drinks, favourite TV show pictures or film characters – anything that tells us ‘All about you!’

Starting school Thursday 8th September – Reception children start part time. Some children will attend school during the morning session (9-11) and some during the afternoon session (1-3). Friday 9th September – Children to attend allocated part time session. Monday 12th – Friday 16th September – Children continue to attend school part time this week. Your child will receive a letter from their class teacher inviting them to start at Grove Wood Primary School. As well as introducing your child to our school life this will have the allocated part time session times for them.

Sharing lunch time with my friends! Starting school Sharing lunch time with my friends! Monday 19th September – Morning session 9-12am children invited to stay for a packed lunch today. Afternoon session 1-3pm. Tuesday 20th September - Morning session 9-11am. Afternoon session 12-3pm. Children invited to arrive for a packed lunch today.

Starting school Wednesday 21st September – Reception children are welcome to stay all day now. Full time hours are 8.55 – 3.05. Please bring a packed lunch Wednesday 21st, Thursday 22nd & Friday 23rd September. (Breakfast club available for Reception children now) Monday 26th September - Reception children continue to stay all day. Hot school dinners are now available for Reception children. INSET date for Autumn term - Friday 30th September (only staff in school this day, not children)

Tuesday 13th September 7pm – Reception Curriculum Meeting. Parent meetings Tuesday 13th September 7pm – Reception Curriculum Meeting. An opportunity to learn more about the day in the life of a reception child at Grove Wood Primary school. There will also be the opportunity to come over to the classrooms and to meet with other parents/carers. We would politely ask that children are not brought to this event. Thursday 22nd September – Maths and Phonics Workshop 7 – 8.30pm Friday 23rd September - Maths and Phonics workshop (Repeated) 9.15am -10.45 am Come and find out how your child will develop their learning in these areas of the curriculum.

Getting ready for school Helping your child be ready for school…..encourage independence! Share books, visit the library, play games, visit places and have fun together!
