Swanshurst Values We have a set of Swanshurst Values which are at the heart in all we do. We aim to develop learners who are: Aspirational Resilient Reflective Creative Confident communicators Kind & Respectful Independent

As Form Tutor I will: be the first contact point between home and school. If you have any pastoral questions, please contact me on my email address at x. If the question is about a lesson, please contact the class teacher: their name will be on your daughter’s timetable see your daughter at the end of every to register her and deliver our tutorial programme be the first port of call for each girl if they need some advice or an adult to talk to. contact home if I have any good news I want to share or any concerns

Uniform

New uniform The uniform will consist of: Black Blazer with school badge Purple V neck jumper with school logo Black skirt – Charleston/long plain black skirt or Black pleated trousers White open, V neck blouse PE Kit – white polo shirt with Swanshurst logo, black jogging bottoms, purple fleece with logo and trainers   New uniform

PE KiPE Kit Please be aware that the fleece is a new edition to our school PE kit. School jumpers CANNOT be worn for PE lessons

Shoes – shoes should be black, sensible and waterproof Shoes – shoes should be black, sensible and waterproof. Shoes must be made of leather or have a leather look. They must have no heel. Laces should be black. Smart leather boots are acceptable in winter months. Trainers and canvas shoes are not acceptable Socks/tights – these can be flesh coloured or black, NO leggings can be worn instead of tights. No patterned or lacy tights please. Short white socks in the summer months are acceptable Headscarves should be black only If you are unsure at all please contact school Uniform List

Coats and Jackets – need to be smart and practical Coats and Jackets – need to be smart and practical. They should be plain in colour, with no writing or large logos. No hooded tops, tracksuit tops or branded tops are allowed and will be confiscated. Jackets with leather or denim are not allowed Jewellery –we allow one plain stud in each ear and one small stud in the nose. Girls can also wear one discreet ring and a watch Nails and make up – nails should look natural, a French polish is allowed. All other types of nail polish will be removed. Make up should be natural

School day Pupils must be in school by 8.40am as lessons start promptly at 8.45am School finishes at 3.15pm from Monday – Thursday and 3pm on Friday’s

Picking up and dropping off Two options for this; the back of the school is the best option as lots of parking available (entrance off Wheelers lane, for Billesley Tennis Centre) and your daughter enters and exits through our back gate park at the Billesley Pub and your daughter comes in through the front gate No dropping off on the island outside school School Map A3 - 29-07-16.pdf

Mobile Phones & online payments Mobile phones are allowed but must not be seen during the school day Phones are confiscated if seen and handed back 24 hours later in the first instance. We have a secure online payments system (Tucasi) which allows you to pay for school meals, educational visits and activities by either debit or credit card The system is simple to use and is accessed via our website – we will provide you with a code to set up a personal account in September which can be used to pay for school meals, educational visits etc. The benefits are:- It removes the need to find cash and change It removes the worry of your daughter carrying cash It ensures that cash is spent on meals (rather than chocolate!!) It removes the need for your daughter to queue to put money on her dinner card and to pay for visits and activities It allows you to link accounts if you have either more than one daughter in our school or children in another school using the same online payments system It allows you to view your payment history via your own private account

Equipment It is important for pupils to be equipped: Reading book Subject Books Pen Pencil Ruler Planner (issued by your Form tutor in September) PE kit/swimming kit/cookery ingredients when necessary Please label all uniform and equipment with name and form.

Home learning(Firefly) and Go4schools Swanshurst has an excellent on line virtual learning environment called Firefly and a parent portal called Go4schools All homework will be set on Firefly, including home learning projects Go4schools is where you can access your daughters behaviour and recognition points, progress and attendance data .

Blackwell Adventure Centre On 19th or 21st September all pupils in Year 7 have the fantastic opportunity to get to know one another and do various team building activities at Blackwell outdoor adventure centre based near Bromsgrove. Its free and compulsory to all Year 7 pupils

Recognition Points ( Rewards) & Enrichment Students are rewarded points (RPs)electronically via GO each time they demonstrate a Swanshurst Value; this could be inside and/or outside the classroom. Certificates & badges are rewarded on the basis of points We encourage all pupils to attend extra curricular activities which we call enrichment as this helps pupils make progress and earn them RPs

Any Queries School starts on Tuesday 5th September at 8.40am If you have any issues or queries, please let me know If I can’t answer it myself, I will be able to ensure someone else does
