{ Found Poetry

Flow Now I hear The night sensing the power On a still moonlit moment And again, There are echoes of past and future changes in the flow of time, seeking a foothold, Tangible, Purposeful, Rising.

{ Big Idea: Create piece of artwork based on a core idea or central theme. Create a found poem by circling poetic words or phrases on a book page.

{ Step One: Find a page from a book that looks good, (lots of good words). Photocopy it.

{ Step Two: Now take a pencil and begin to circle words. Not too many! Try to create a poem from the circled words. About words is good.

{ Step Three: Think about the word that represents the core idea of your poem. At least one word should give you a good visual image to create from.

{ Step Four: Cover over the un-circled words with your graphic representation of the core idea. (Feel free to use paint, other paper, markers, etc.)

{ Step Five: Once you have the background image and colors laid down, add more detail.

{ Step Six: Neatly write your “core idea” word on your final page.

Student Artwork

Rage Started shuffling back tears of rage into a cringing animal. What you gonna do for yourself? Cry a whole river. The hurt, the pain, the humiliation. Covering his head. He heard a roar of rage was in his throat.

Country The corn country A lovely land of rolling hills and green meadows Wandering creeks and woodlands The meadow larks whistled Slowly, methodically The grass, The sky, The rich earth Love for the earth A pagan’s love for the sun- And It’s warmth

Time Female dressed elegance, young and careless, The appearance we have seen for some time past. Pure and healthy.

Tranquility Of our dreams This time of days infinite itself in the Astonishment of that beautiful human body That is more than tranquility.

Fear The window open She stood to one side stood staring hating the human race still alive trying to pray she began to walk she was afraid to stop moving Terror She moved slowly now She let them in.

Wicked He eyes and smile dreaming Her movements graceful She was golden- winged Had not kissed her except they danced this golden kitten to meet him. She expected he would humbly serve her blood leaden She was miserable and keenly happy at heart A beautiful heiress Wicked.

Life Glancing out at the headlights on the road stretching ahead was a ravishing beauty. She was in love with Life.

Fire There was smoke Fire Once sizzled like a firecracker fuse The faintest breath pierced the dark.
