Agenda Wednesday, December 10, 2014 Today we will be talking about The Golden Rule and how it is applied in To Kill a Mockingbird. First, you will partner up with someone where you are sitting and each pair will go on a gallery walk together where you will reflect on the quotes in the hall and select the one you like the best. Half the pairs will start at 1 and work to 10 and the other half will start at 10 and work back around to 1. Please keep voice levels low in the hallway (partner level). You will have about 30 seconds at each quote.

Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 7:12)

What were similarities and differences you saw? How would you phrase this universal rule in today’s language? We are going to watch about two minutes of a religious historian discussing The Golden Rule.

We will now turn to Mockingbird to see how Harper Lee explores this theme. Who can tell me where Atticus first explains the concept of The Golden Rule to Scout? Hint: Chapter 3. Page 33. “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his points of view... Until you climb into his skin and walk around in it” (Lee 33).

You will now want to work with your partner or group of four and find several different examples Example Look for people showing compassion and kindness. Get examples from all throughout the book, not just the beginning. Explain

We will: Discuss Themes Do A Little Grammar Practice Writing Practice Analyzing Friday Tutorial
