17 Samand Rear Suspension… Description 1. Suspension assembly: The rear suspension is of the semi-independent trailing arm type, which consists of two trailing arms, linked by a tubular cross member. A torsion bar is fitted transversely between each trailing arm and the opposite suspension side member. An anti-roll bar is fitted between the trailing arms. The complete rear axle assembly is mounted onto the vehicle underbody via four rubber mountings.

25 Samand The steering gear is mounted onto the front sub frame, and is connected by two track rods, with ball joints at their outer ends, to the steering arms projecting rearwards from the swivel hubs. The track rod ends are threaded, to facilitate adjustment. The hydraulic power steering system is powered by a belt-driven pump, which is driven off the crankshaft pulley. Steering… Description 1. 27 Samand The power-assisted steering gear is of the rack and pinion type consisting of control valve and servo cylinder in a common housing. Together with the power steering pump and power steering fluid reservoir, these are the main components of the system. Power steering fluid is pumped from the power steering pump to the control valve where, depending on which way the steering wheel is turned, it is directed to either the right or the left side of the servo cylinder. 35 Samand The track rod ends on both sides are screwed on the track rods and secured by means of locknuts. By slackening the locknuts and turning the track rods to left or right, the distance between the outer and inner track rod ends can be reduced or increased to adjust the toe-in angle. Each track rod is secured to the steering arm of the steering swivel member by means of a self-locking nut. The track rod ends cannot be dismantled. Steering… Description 7. Steering arm:

40 Samand The braking system is of the servo-assisted hydraulic type. The vehicle has disc brakes on the front wheels which are Girling type. Drum brakes are fitted to the rear wheels which are also Girling type. These rear brakes incorporate leading, tracking shoes and these are activated by twin piston wheel cylinders. The wheel cylinders have integral pressure regulating valves which control the hydraulic pressure applied to the rear wheels. The regulating valves help prevent rear wheels lock-up during emergency braking, a self adjust mechanism is incorporated to automatically compensate for brake shoe wear. As the brake shoes wear, the foot-brake operation automatically operates the adjuster mechanism which effectively lengthens the shoe strut and repositions the brake shoes to remove the lining to drum clearance.
