Individual Skill in Central front 3 rd to create / score goals SESSION PLAN PRESENTATION

Football Problem We don’t produce enough creative possession and individual brilliance in front 3 rd that creates/converts scoring opportunities. Can we encourage it through creative training.

Objectives of the Session To improve the ability of players to combine and/or develop creativity and individual skills in the attacking third to create/convert goal scoring opportunities

Positioning Can I get into a position where I can receive the ball? -Away from my opponent -In between defenders -In between the defensive lines -Where I can see & play forward -Where I can run with the ball -Where I can shoot

Passing Practice Grid of 4 squares 5 Blue v 3 Red- vary size on age/ability of players. – blue bp team, make 10 passes for a point -red bpo team try to win ball then make pass to ass coach/GK on side for a point. Var- blue must have player in each sq at all times. -blue play 2 touch max -move to new sq after each pass/2 nd touch -GK’s spare players play as bouncers at each end or around sides. -Red unlimited touches must dribble or pass ball into each square for a point. Swap player positions every 2-3 minutes

Positioning Game 4v4. 3 zones – players in Players limited to own zone in defence BPO. May progress 1 or 2 zones further in possession BP. No more than 2 in one zone at a time in BP. Score by progressing ball to player in top zone and then finding a pass with a team-mate in the same zone. Then get ball back to bottom zone before trying to return and score again.

Positioning Game BP Team Task To get two players in the top zone with the ball and able to find a pass between each other then try and go back other way BP Player Tasks -Top and Middle player providing End players with options high and low -End players able to play forward and 1 End player travel forward Players quickly moving into free space after playing in team mate -Travel forward with the ball & after drawing a defender make combination play such as wall pass. - Always looking for a forward pass and run to get beyond defenders. Var – Bounce ball off coach/GK at ends & go back the other way.

Game Training BP- Blue 6/8/9/10 BPO- Red 1/3/4/6/10 Server/Target on ½ way plays for both teams Rules BP-Blue Scores through 9 or 10 on big goal. Offside applies BPO-Red scores by playing ball to server or assistant coach or place two small goals in corners. Start/Re-Start – with server playing ball to blue 6 or 8 who are limited to 15x20m area in possession, ball must be played into 9 or 10. Var- take out Red 6 if too difficult for Blue 9/10 & play him as bouncer at ½ way. Assistant Coach acts as a linesman.

BP-Team Task Have 9 or 10 high with ball in enough space to strike on goal BP-Player Tasks -6/8 with or receiving the ball being able to play forward either into feet or into attacking space -9 and 10 provide passing options high & low & /or left & right to 6/8 -Can high player see ball, goal and deeper player -Can deeper player see ball and higher player - Can 9 & 10 combine to create space to shoot on goal, via wall pass, takeover etc Var/Prog – can 6 or 8 push into goal scoring area to support front two - allow 10 to rotate in out with 6 or 8 to create space/collect ball. - ball may be dribbled in to goal scoring area by a midfieder 6/8

Training Game Add big/sap goal at c/circle No restriction on player movement- offside applies BP- Blue 1/6/8/9/10 BPO- Red 1/3/4/6/10 Server/Keeper just plays for BP blue team Both teams score in big/SAP goals with blue going towards end line Play restarts with goalkeeper from the opposite team that last touched the ball Var- Offside only for Blue Var- If extra players play with bouncer on each sideline

Key Observation Points -9 and 10 ability to position themselves high and low at the right moment when 6 and 8 have the ball -10’s ability to attack the free space when 9 is played high -9’s ability to move in front of his opponent at the right time when 10 is shown inside by the other central defender
