Why Are We Having This Gospel Meeting? While many denominations will entice people to come to their services with entertainment, food, or recreation, we encourage people to come to hear the truth of God’s word. Beginning on Thursday night through Sunday night, Warren King will proclaim the truth to us from the word of God. In this sermon we will give five reasons for why we are having this gospel meeting.

We are having this meeting to Glorify God God’s name is constantly being blasphemed by those who reject Him in movies, TV, or in daily conversation (Romans 1:18ff). We want to glorify God for His mercy just as the Christians did in the 1 st century so that His name might be praised. (Romans 15:9; Acts 11:18) You will hear inspiring preaching, humble prayers, and be involved in enthusiastic singing that will glorify God and help keep us united (Romans 15:4-6). Will you be here every service to glorify God?

We are having this meeting to Exalt Christ Jesus glorified God by doing His will on earth. (John 13:31-32; 17:4) The Jews humiliated and condemned Jesus to death but God raised Him up and exalted Him to His right hand above every name in heaven and on earth. (Acts 3:13-15; Philippians 2:5-11) When the gospel of Christ is preached this week, it will help keep our focus on heaven, exalt His name above all others, and cast down everything that is raised up against God’s will (Col. 3:1ff; 2 Cor. 10:3f). Will you be here every service to exalt the name of Christ?

We are having this meeting to Honor God’s Word Jesus honored God by speaking exactly what the Father had told Him. Warren King will show honor to God, by giving you book, chapter, and verse for what he is preaching. (John 12:48-50; Colossians 3:17; 1 Peter 4:11) We should pray in this gospel meeting effort that the word of God might spread rapidly and be glorified just as it did with us (2 Thessalonians 3:1-2). If we are to honor God, we must practice what has been preached from His word (James 1:22-25). Will you be here every service to honor God’s word?

We are having this meeting to Save Souls All men and women are sinners before God and the only way that they will be saved from God’s wrath is through the blood of Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23; 5:8-9; Hebrews 2:9) Those who do not know God or do not obey the gospel will be punished with eternal fire. (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9) Have you done your part in praying, inviting, and encouraging your friends, neighbors, coworkers, and loved ones to attend this gospel meeting?

We are having this meeting to Edify Saints Even though the Thessalonian brethren were already edifying one another, they were admonished to continue doing it (1 Thessalonians 5:11). Why? Because the natural tendency is to get tired of doing what is right. Don’t give up! Keep doing good for all people and especially brethren (Gal. 6:7-10). The word of God is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance of eternal life (Acts 20:32). Will you be here to edify the saints each service?

Conclusion The faithful preaching of the truth: glorifies God exalts Christ honors God’s word saves souls edifies the saint

Conclusion This is what we have planned for our gospel meeting and hope you will be here. Are you glorifying God or blaspheming Him in your life? Are you exalting Christ by your deeds or yourself?

Conclusion Are you honoring or disgracing God’s word? Are you saved or condemned at this time? Are you edified in the hope of eternal life or are you fearful of eternal punishment? Prepare to meet Thy God!
