Global Solar Certification Network Global Solar Certification Network Meeting, Berlin March 2016 Jan Erik Nielsen GSCN Manager The Global Solar Certification Network is a worldwide cooperation between:  Solar thermal industry representatives  Certification bodies  Test laboratories  Inspection bodies / inspectors

Global Solar Certification Network Global Solar Certification Network Meeting, Berlin March 2016 Jan Erik Nielsen GSCN Manager Aim  Facilitate worldwide cross-border trading for manufacturers of solar thermal quality products  Minimize the need for re-testing and re-inspection in new markets Leading to:  Increased quality  Lower costs  Bigger market - better business

Global Solar Certification Network Global Solar Certification Network Meeting, Berlin March 2016 Jan Erik Nielsen GSCN Manager Method  Utilize existing certification schemes and have mutual recognition of test reports and inspection reports

Global Solar Certification Network Global Solar Certification Network Meeting, Berlin March 2016 Jan Erik Nielsen GSCN Manager ISO9806:2013 Test report Inspection report Reports fulfilling requirements given in GSCN Working Rules and done by test labs and inspectors recognized by GSCN. How it works (1)

Global Solar Certification Network Global Solar Certification Network Meeting, Berlin March 2016 Jan Erik Nielsen GSCN Manager How it works (2)  Exchange of test and inspection reports between 3 rd party certification schemes with initial type testing, annual inspections and surveillance testing  All operating bodies shall have relevant accreditation  Basic standard is ISO 9806:2013 on solar collector test procedures  Certification bodies accept only testing and inspection done by recognized test labs and recognized inspectors

Global Solar Certification Network Global Solar Certification Network Meeting, Berlin March 2016 Jan Erik Nielsen GSCN Manager How to join the Global Solar Certification Network as: Inspection body If the applicant is a third-party inspection body the main requirements are:  Valid accreditation as type A inspection body by a member of IAF (International Accreditation Forum) showing compliance with the provisions of ISO/IEC “Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection” If the applicant is a product certification body and a current member of the GSCN, and the applicant also performs continuous compliance inspections, the main requirement is:  Accreditation in accordance ISO/IEC with accredited scopes of work which include furnishing inspection services for solar collector manufacturing conformity assessment.

Global Solar Certification Network Global Solar Certification Network Meeting, Berlin March 2016 Jan Erik Nielsen GSCN Manager How to join the Global Solar Certification Network as: Manufacturer Pay fee.

Global Solar Certification Network Global Solar Certification Network Meeting, Berlin March 2016 Jan Erik Nielsen GSCN Manager How it will work for manufacturers  A manufacturer having already a certificate accepted by the GSCN, simply apply directly to a certification body issuing the next wanted certificate (also accepted within the GSCN), showing his existing certificate and related test and inspection reports and other relevant documentation.  NB. Test lab and inspector shall be recognized by both certification bodies - so very important to choose the right test lab and inspector.  The “new” certification body will then tell the manufacturer if any additional testing/inspection will needed.  If no additional testing/inspection is required – or when such additional testing/inspection has completed – the manufacturer is granted the license to mark his product with the “new” certificate too.
