1) Why did people’s daily lives change in the decades following the Civil War? Before war people lived on farms, after- cities -no electricity, no refrigeration (used blocks of ice)

2) Why did the nation’s industrial productivity rise in the late 1800s? New forms of energy, took advantage of workers, used machines (technology)

3) How did the system of patents encourage innovation and investment? Patents protected inventor’s work and ideas from being sold or stolen
