3 Causes of the Industrial Revolution INDUSTRIALIZATION

4 Cause #1: Abundant Natural Resources 1. Which resources played important roles in industrialization? 2. How did Edwin L. Drake help industry to get larger quantities of oil? 3. How did the Bessemer process improve the process of making steel? 4. What new uses for steel were developed at this time? Oil, coal, iron ore, and water. 13 Cause #2: Inventions and Innovations 5. How did Thomas Alva Edison contribute to this development? 6. How did George Westinghouse contribute to this development? 7. How did Christopher Sholes contribute to this development? 8. How did Alexander Graham Bell contribute to this development? Invented the light bulb, which allowed people to work day and night. Made electricity more affordable which led to time- saving appliances and allowed factories to be built anywhere. Invented the typewriter, which changed office work and opened up jobs for women. Invented the telephone, which changed communication and opened up jobs for women.

14 Cause #3: Growing Urban Population With so many people moving to the cities, it meant that there were lots of consumers for the new inventions and industrial goods.
