The Simple Present The simple present is used: to express habits, general truths, repeated actions or unchanging situations, emotions and wishes

Present Simple / third person 1. The verb usually ends in –s. ex. To want → he wants. 2. Verbs ending in –y: the –y changes to –ies: ex. To fly → flies *Exception: if there is a vowel before the -y: ex. Play → plays, pray → prays* 3. Add -es to verbs ending in:-ss, -x, -sh, -ch: ex. To pass → passes

Negatives & Asking Questions: Negative and question forms use DOES (=the third person of the auxiliary 'DO') + the infinitive of the verb. Does + (to) eat= Question: Does an anteater eat cats? Negative: An anteater does not eat cats.
