FEATURED ARTIST: ROY LICHTENSTEIN Roy Lichtenstein was born in New York City He became famous for his bold, Pop Art paintings of comic strip cartoons and everyday objects. Whaam! By Roy Lichtenstein (1963)

Lichtenstein chose colours carefully, to imitate the four colours of printers’ inks: Cyan Magenta Yellow Black Looking closely at his paintings you can see the colours are made up of dots.

Bananas & Grapefruits (1972) Spray Can (1962) Lichtenstein used thick, horizontal stripes and Benday Dots in his paintings.

Lichtenstein created sculptures using the same style as his painting composition.
