To boil eggs by sun Boil your own egg with the help of the sun! Outdoor education study group (grade 1-4) / schoolyear 12/13 (April) Teachers: Jutta Knittel and Kristina Köhn

Materials : 1 preserving jar 1 jam jar ( smaller than the prevering jar) 1 styrofoam (4cmx4cmx1cm) 1 raw egg black paper aluminium foil

Instructions That is, what you have to do: 1. Wrap the piece of styrofoam with the aluminium foil and put it into the preserving jar. 2. Wrap the raw egg in black paper carefully.

3. Put the egg on top of the styrofoam in the preserving jar. 4. Put the jam jar over the egg and lock the preserving jar.

5. Put the preserving jar carefully into the sun. If the weather is sunny, the egg will be boiled after one hour!!!

Our results One hour later, both glasses and the egg are very warm and hot, but the egg is still liquid.

After two hours the egg white started to get hard.

After three hours the egg was boiled. Result: In Germany the sun in April is not strong enough to boil an egg in one hour. We plan to repeat the experiment in July.
