FOOD The Iroquois were farming people. Women did most of the farming and planting. They planted corn, beans and squash. They also collected wild berries and herbs. Men did most hunting and shooting elk and deer and fishing in the river. They ate fish, corn, buffalo, corn bread and dear.

NATURAL RECOURCES They used wood, stones and bones to make tools. To make boats they used the trunk of a tree and carved it into the shape of a boat. To make weapons out of wood they steamed the wood to bend it into the right shape. Most weapons were made out of bones or stone. Knifes and hammers were made out of stone. Sewing needles and other house- hold tools were made out of bones. This is a Native American tool and weapon. It is made out of stone. Houses were called Long houses. They could be up to 100 feet long!! Each long house held a clan (about 60 people). They are made out of long sticks and bark.
