2 The region of the Crow Tribe is Montana and Wyoming

3 The Crow Tribe were the indigenous people of the great plains known today as Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota.

4 The Crow, also known as, Absaroka or Apsaalooke are Native Americans who live mostly in the Yellowstone River Valley of Montana. Their name means “children of the large beaked bird”. They were known as semi-nomad hunters and farmers.

6 The Crow were primarily hunting people. Crow men hunted deer, elk, and especially buffalo. Some Crow tribes raised corn in their village gardens, but others grew only tobacco there. Crow women also gathered herbs, fruits, and other plants to add to their diet.

7 The way of life was women do work like making bowls blankets clothing and teepees. Men hunted for animals like buffalo, deer, and elk.

8 The Crow were resourceful people as well. They used deer bones as needles, for sewing. Rabbits for making blankets and rocks and deer antlers for weapons.

9 The Crow believed in the Crow way, the Sundance, the tobacco society, Christianity, and religious ceremonies.

10 The Crow was a very good tribe to study.
