AIR FORCE SERGEANTS ASSOCIATION VOICE OF THE “ENLISTED” How is AFSA Unique Reason for being: TO REPRESENT YOU! With you for LIFE regardless of rank, time in/of service, and/or service-retirement location Ownership: PAID FOR BY YOU, not a corporate business concern Mission: only USAF ENLISTED Q-O-L issues Hierarchy: USAF ENLISTED volunteers Lobbyists: all USAF ENLISTED Contacts: CAPITOL HILL, AIR FORCE, AND DOD

AIR FORCE SERGEANTS ASSOCIATION VOICE OF THE “ENLISTED” 2013/2014 Legislative Accomplishments Enactment of the Pay Our Military Act, a measure promising full pay and allowances to service members during a government shutdown Extension of 30+ bonuses/special pays & temporary early retirement authority Statutory protection of individual expressions or religious or moral beliefs Restore and preserve the military Tuition Assistance program Repealed 1% annual COLA reduction for Disabled Retirees/Survivors and military retiree who entered military service prior to January 2014 Prevented 24% cut in Medicare and Tricare reimbursement payments to doctors

AIR FORCE SERGEANTS ASSOCIATION VOICE OF THE “ENLISTED” Key 2014 Initiatives Active, Retiree, Family, Veterans S.2075 “ Protect the Commissary Benefit” to prohibit a reduction in funding for the defense commissary system in fiscal year 2015 pending the report of the Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission. Introduced by Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) S.2182 “ Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act” to expand and improve care provided to veterans and members of the Armed Forces with mental health disorders or at risk of suicide. Introduced by Sen. John Walsh (D-MT) H.R 357 “GI Bill Tuition Fairness Act of 2013” to disapprove courses of education provided by public institutions of higher education that do not charge tuition and fees for veterans at the same rate that is charged for in-state residents, regardless of the veteran’s state of residence. Introduced by Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL)

AIR FORCE SERGEANTS ASSOCIATION Life without AFSA and The Military Coalition Absence of a 9/11 G.I. Bill or reduced benefits Reduced tuition assistance (Certificate benefits 9K to 4.5K) Commissary and BX benefits would be reduced Health care would be more costly Basic pay would be a fraction of what it currently is Allowances would be quite a bit less or non existent Reimbursement for PCS moves would be less Hazardous duty pay would be much lower or non existent Dormitory standards would be much poorer Single Airmen would probably still reside in open bay Frankly, YOUR military life would be very different VOICE OF THE “ENLISTED”
