ENMS Digital Citizenship 2016 General Computer Guidelines

Restarting You should shut your computer down between ALL classes. Restarting your computer will fix A LOT of issues. – ALWAYS do a restart BEFORE brining you computer to the Library.

Computer Bags Overstuffed bags can cause: the screen to break from other books and items in your book bag. computers to over heat if not shut down between classes. some bags may not have enough cushion to protect your computer, causing hinges to break or corners to crack.

Computer Bags When it is time to turn in the laptop, you do not have to turn in the school issued bag. All you turn in is your computer and your charger.

Your computer should have the following 1. EN tag number on bottom of machine 2. EN tag number on battery 3. EN tag number on charger 4. Username on outside of lid (7 th grade only) – If you are missing any of these you need to stop in the library and get them replaced ASAP General Care

Damage Just a reminder that any damage that occurs to your device must be reported to the media center within 24 hours of the damage happening or on Monday if damage occurs on the weekend. When reporting damage you must describe what happened to your device that caused the damage. If you withdraw from the corporation or return your device at the end of the year with damage you will be billed for the damages per the device agreement you accepted before you received your device. - East Noble Network Technology

8 th Grade Turn in (May 26 th ) If your computer has ANY DAMAGE at the time of turn in (May 26 th ) you WILL be charged for the damage and your new laptop will be held until you have paid.

8 th Grade Turn in If you have any accidental damage to your computer you need to get it turned into the library ASAP!!!! To avoid being charged.

General Repairs * All computer repairs are done through the ENMS Library. * Please be sure to tell them what is wrong and how it may have happened. This can speed up the process of fixing it. * There are times when paper work needs to be completed. Loaner laptops are not given out until that process is done

Repair Cost Accidental Damage Accidental Damage. The student laptop is covered for most accidental damage.

Items NOT covered under accidental – Intentional damages due to negligence or misuse. – Lost or stolen laptops – replacement cost at time of loss I punched the screen

Items NOT covered under accidental – Missing or broken batteries: $100.00

Items NOT covered under accidental – Missing or broken adapters (chargers): $30 -50

Missing keys – The cost to replace most missing keys is $1 and can be done in the library. – If missing many keys (5+) or rubber pieces missing the cost can be total keyboard replacement. Cost for new keyboard is $75 – Painting keys with ANYTHING will result in BEING CHARGED for keys or a keyboard. $75 Missing Keys

Repair Cost Bottom Bezel (case) replacement cost: $50 Pricing modified February 3, Prices are based on current pricing and availability and are subject to change at any time.

Repair Cost Track-Pad replacement cost: $75 Pricing modified February 3, Prices are based on current pricing and availability and are subject to change at any time.

Repair Cost Laptop hinge replacement cost: $50 Pricing modified February 3, Prices are based on current pricing and availability and are subject to change at any time.

Repair Cost Thermal Cover: $50 The part that unscrews. Pricing modified February 3, Prices are based on current pricing and availability and are subject to change at any time.

Repair Cost Replacement cost due to loss, or negligence: 8th graders: $205.75; student issued another laptop when payment is made 7th graders: $336.50; student issued another laptop when payment is made Pricing modified February 3, Prices are based on current pricing and availability and are subject to change at any time.

Student Responsibilities over the summer Back up your files just in case. You will still need to check for updates during the summer. Be sure to do this so your computer runs effectively.

Tech help over summer If you should need technology help or repairs over the summer you can go to the ENHS Media center Wednesday's June 8 th to July 27 th 11 – 1 PM
