The Context of the Research  Significant and unprecedented growth of Chinese studies in North America in last couple of decades  Engagement in broader international scholarly collaborations and frequent exchange of activities between American and Chinese scholars  Increased accessibility to scholarly information in different languages  More mature electronic products  Evolving and changing scholarly communication system due to advanced technology

What Are Suggested  Better communication means -- Newsletter, blog and other forms  Newsletter of publications in my field;  RSS Digest /RSS feeds, each associated with a specific subject keyword, would be great  online newsletters with very brief summaries  make the scholarly information available on a regular basis

The Findings  To American scholars, scholars’ circles are most important and reliable sources for scholarly information.  To American scholars, the library is not necessarily a primary place for new information; and librarians are yet to be in their circles  Citations and book reviews of academic works are primary sources for both American and Chinese scholars to discover new information

Possible Improvements  Better communication means (RSS, newsletters, blogs, and research aids)  More involvement in academic circles and build better connection with scholars through meetings, academic networks, translations and etc.  Engaging in Open Access publishing of scholarly writings in Chinese studies

 Generate more similar surveys  More data  Different levels  Different disciplines  Comparison  Citation Analysis /Bibliometric Studies  The Chinese Studies focused  Benchmark Further Studies:
