3 Primary & Secondary Research What is Primary Research? Primary research is any type of research that a scholar collects themselves. Primary research include surveys, interviews, observations, and ethnographic research. Example: How frequently do you use social media (Facebook or MySpace) to communicate with friends? What is Secondary Research? Secondary research is an analysis and interpretation of new or continuing research, based on evidence provided by primary sources and experts in the field of study. Secondary research is often published in scholarly sources in the form of books and journal articles.
